The easySEAM system is available in two versions to meet different mounting preferences: TPF and TBK. Both variants share the advantages mentioned above (fast, penetration-free installation, proven quality), but differ in design and scope of application. In the following, we will explain the differences and when which variant is ideal.
The TPF variant uses classic mounting rails (carrier profiles). After fixing the folding clamps, a continuous support profile is mounted on the clamps, which serves as a rail for the modules. Thanks to the pre-assembled quick-assembly adapter in the clamps, the rail can be quickly snapped in and fixed. This system shows its strengths particularly when oriented vertically (vertical format of the modules), as here the profiles run parallel to the roof ridge and two rails are used per row of modules (standard for standing seam roofs). But with TPF, you can also mount modules in landscape mode — there is full flexibility.
When is TPF suitable? Whenever you value broad load distribution and maximum variability. The continuous rails distribute the load of the modules over several terminals, which is an advantage for large roof areas and higher loads. The rail system also makes it easier to align the modules in a line. In short: easySEAM TPF is ideal for medium to large PV systems on standing seam roofs, where classic rail installation is required and modules must be mounted both vertically and horizontally.
The TBK variant is coming without long support profiles. Here, short mounting rails are already pre-assembled on the folding clamps, on which the modules are attached directly. This short rail system saves material and time: You don't have to align or screw separate rails — after attaching the clamps to the fold, you can fix the solar modules directly onto the clamp short rails. This reduces assembly costs to a minimum, which is particularly attractive for projects with a tight time frame.
Important difference: With easySEAM TBK, the modules are usually mounted in landscape (horizontal) format. The short rails grip the modules on their long side (longitudinal clamping), which is optimized for modules placed horizontally. Short rails are less common in portrait mode, which is why TBK is primarily intended for transverse modules.
When is TBK suitable? If you want to install small to medium-sized systems quickly and the modules are designed in landscape mode anyway. For example, you can install TBK very efficiently on a standing seam roof with a limited number of modules, as there is no need to align rails. TBK can also be advantageous on angled roof surfaces, as fewer components need to be installed. Despite the omission of the long rail, the assembly remains stable and secure — the modules are solidly attached to the pre-assembled short rails. easySEAM TBK is therefore the fastest solution for penetration-free PV installation on folded roofs when the conditions are right.
